JAKE SUMMERS

HELLO

My Name is Jake Summers and I'm currently a senior seeking a Bachelor's Degree in Advertising with a Minor in Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder. I was born and raised in Naperville, Illinois and moved to Colorado in 2020. I love to do anything outdoors, as well as to cook and watch ski movies!

As a kid, I was always fascinated by art and seeing how people used their skills to express themselves visually. While I initially began my artistic journey through drawing, my creative path took a new turn as I got older. It all started on Christmas morning in 2013 when I unwrapped my first video camera, a GoPro Hero 3. I didn’t think much of it at the time until I went on vacation with my family and began shooting and editing my own footage. I immediately fell in love  after finishing my first video and it was at that point I knew precisely what I wanted to pursue in my career. From there forward, I spent the next decade of my life learning the aesthetics of videography and how to use those visuals to convey a message or to tell a story in post-production. Today, I’m currently interning at the CU Athletics media department where I shoot and create videos for their sports media accounts, as well as working with other brands and artists in the boulder community to help create media content. I hope for the future that I get to continue my passion for a living and to be able to share my art to a larger audience.
