When I first learned about our zine project, I struggled to come up with ideas because I had never even heard of a zine before. As we learned more about the concept of zines, it became clear that they could literally be about anything. So after giving the project more thought, I narrowed down my ideas to my top two favorites. These ideas come from my passion for certain hobbies and are backed by compelling stories that I would be excited to share in my zine.

  1. 2002's Greatest Moments in Sports

Growing up, sports meant a lot to me. I made most of my childhood friends through sports, and some of my best memories are connected to them. But every now and then, there were these special sports moments that stuck with me. Whether it was watching the Kick Six live or staying up until 3 a.m. to cheer for my city's baseball team winning the World Series after 108 years, these moments are memories that I'll never forget and will forever be cherished. In my zine, I aim to share these greatest sports moments from my generation, inviting fellow sports enthusiasts to relive the nostalgic joy of our own childhood sports memories. In my zine, I plan to use 6 events (one for each page, ex. title & end page) that I believe are unforgettable moments during my childhood. I will use Photoshop for the designs and add a date at the bottom of each page of the day of that event.

2 . The Story of Jake Burton

I chose this idea for my zine project because it's centered around one of my favorite entrepreneur stories and carries valuable life lessons that I believe are worth sharing. Jake Burton, the founder of the snowboarding company Burton, faced numerous obstacles on his journey to where his company and the sport of snowboarding stands today. His story is genuinely inspiring, and for my zine, I aim to highlight those key moments from his journey. While this idea was initially my favorite, I eventually leaned toward the sports idea a bit more.
